Educational Qualification
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree from any recognised university. Candidates must possess the required qualification on or before the last date of application.
Certain posts carry specific qualification requirements:
- Principal, Govt. Intermediate College: Post-Graduate Degree + B.Ed. (NCTE recognised) + 3 years regular teaching experience
- Senior Lecturer, DIET: Post-Graduate Degree + B.Ed. from a recognised university
- Labour Enforcement Officer / Assistant Labour Commissioner: Post-Graduate Degree in Economics, Sociology, Commerce, Law, Social Work, or related fields
- Food Safety Officer: Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology / Dairy Technology / Biotechnology / Agricultural Science / Veterinary Science / Biochemistry / Microbiology, or Post-Graduate in Chemistry, or MBBS
- Officer on Special Duty (Computer): B.E. in Computer Engineering from a recognised Government Institute, OR First Class Post-Graduate in Mathematics + 1-year PG Diploma in Computer Science + 1-year work experience
- Assistant Prosecuting Officer (Transport): Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university

- Persons with Disabilities (UP): Up to 55 years (15 years relaxation)
- Ex-Servicemen (UP): 3 years + period of Army service relaxation
- Chief Minister Fellowship Research Scholars: Up to 3 years additional relaxation (1 year per year of completed tenure)
- Principal, Govt. Intermediate College: Special age bracket — 30 to 40 years only (born between 02 July 1986 and 01 July 1996)

Fee payment is through SBI MOPS (Net Banking / Card / Other modes). Fee for Main Examination: General/EWS/OBC/Other States — ₹225; SC/ST (UP) — ₹105; PwD (UP) — ₹25 (processing fee only).
Examination Pattern
The selection process consists of three successive stages:
Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination (Objective / MCQ)

- Paper II is qualifying only — minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
- Merit is determined only on the basis of Paper I.
- Appearing in both papers is mandatory; absence in either paper leads to disqualification.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum Efficiency Standard: 40% for General/OBC; 35% for SC/ST.
- Top 15 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the Main Examination.
- OMR sheets must be filled using a Black Ball Point Pen only.

- All papers are 3-hour conventional (descriptive) type.
- Top 3 times the number of vacancies are called for the Interview.
- Final merit is based on Main Exam marks + Viva-Voce marks combined.
Stage 3 – Personality Test / Viva-Voce
Total Marks: 100. Tests general awareness, intelligence, character, expression, and overall suitability for the service.

How to Apply – Step by Step
- Get OTR Number: Register at otr.pariksha.nic.in at least 72 hours before the application deadline. This is mandatory before applying.
- Fill Application Part-1: Log in to uppsc.up.nic.in using your OTR number and authenticate via OTP or OTR password. Personal details auto-populate from OTR. Fill essential qualifications for the post.
- Fill Application Part-2: Fill permanent and correspondence address, and select Yes/No against each preferential qualification prescribed for the advertised post.
- Pay Examination Fee: Pay through SBI MOPS via Net Banking, Card, or Other Payment Modes. Take a printout of the Payment Transaction Slip.
- Final Submission & Print: After fee payment, the filled application form is displayed on screen. Take a printout and keep it safely. Modification is allowed only once before 03 August 2026.
Physical Measurement (For Applicable Posts)
Physical standards are applicable for posts such as DSP, Superintendent of Jail, District Commandant Home Guards, Excise Inspector, Deputy Jailor, and District Youth Welfare Officer. Requirements vary by post and category — candidates should check the official notification for post-specific physical standards before applying.
Important Instructions for Candidates
- Do not send hard copies of documents at the Preliminary stage. Documents are required only when specifically called for after Prelims.
- Date of birth is taken from the High School Certificate only — no alternative document is accepted.
- Category, sub-category, domicile, gender, and date of birth as entered in OTR till the last date of application will be treated as final — no changes will be entertained after the last date.
- Candidates of reserved categories outside UP are not eligible for reservation or age relaxation.
- Furnishing wrong information may lead to debarment from all UPPSC examinations for up to 5 years, and action under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
- Submitting forged documents will lead to permanent debarment from all UPPSC selections.
- The application web-link is disabled after the last date — no late submissions are accepted under any circumstances.
- Chief Minister Fellowship Research Scholars completing their tenure get additional weightage marks in the Main Examination (ranging from 1.0 to 7.5 marks depending on years completed and paper marks range).
- Candidates must appear in both papers of the Preliminary Examination — absence in either leads to disqualification.
- For all communications with UPPSC, always quote Advertisement Number, OTR Number, Application ID, Name, Date of Birth, and Roll Number (if allotted).
